i am a 40 year old male with a high school education wishing to make a career change into healthcare.(i want to work in a hospital) wishing to make around 40k yr.with about 1 year or less training is there anything anyone can suggest…i do not wish to be a nurse.. wanting a career working with some sort of equipment or device…can anyone suggest anything ?

Can you get a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography(ultrashound tech)? Around here there are places like Sanford Brown, and its too expensive and dosnt offer certification at the end of training. The other option that I have found is an associate degree program at the community college which takes two years but the problem with that is i already have some college done, and Im wanting to keep going. I really dont want to start all over. Someday I would like to become a doctor or pharmacist…im just exploring my options right now!

I’ve read many misconceptions about universal healthcare. No, it’s not perfect, yes sometimes there are waits. But here are some misconceptions and the facts.
MYTH:It takes weeks to months to go see a gp.
Fact: Walk in clinics are everywhere for most of them an appointment is not nessecary. it doesn’t take weeks or months at the most a few hours. I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes.
MYTH: You can’t decide what doctor you want to see.
FACT: You can go see any doctor you wish.
MYTH: The doctors aren’t as good.
FACT: They go through intense medical training.
MYTH: There are no medical advancements done in countries with universal healthcare.
FACT: Canada is the county that invented the pacemaker, discovered insulin for dietbedies, we were the first ones to start practicing chemotherepy on cancer patients, Canada was the first country to practice heart surgery by a robot , the ones who invented the electric wheelchair, we discovered the DNA gene for cystic fibrosis…
Those are just a few advancements from one country who has universal healthcare. There are thousands more from other countries as well.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Plus the UofA might have the cure for alheimers and other forms of dimensia.

What is a good health-care job with a lot of patient interaction that doesn’t take so long to train for?

I am pre med (I have a high school diploma and BA) and I’m trying to find a job in a health-care field that allows for a lot of patient interaction to give me clinical experience. I do not currently have any certifications other than CPR and first aid. What programs are less than say, 2 months long that can qualify me for such a position? And while I’m at it, what positions do you recommend I try for?

dealing with compliments that may insult others?

I help my friend with her health problems. She has a nurse come over to her house sometimes when I’m there and she’ll say in front of the nurse that I am just as good as a real nurse. I’ll take her to the doctor and she will tell the doctor I am just as good as a doctor.

I say, “thank you” but really.. it might offend the doctor and nurse to hear this stuff. I’m lots of help yes but I am no nurse nor doctor. No professional health care training at all.

Do you think I should just say “thank you” or is there something I can say to assure the doctor and nurse that we don’t REALLY think I am not as good as them? To give them a little credit I mean… it is actually an insult to them that someone with no training would in their presense be said to be as good as them.

BTW I HAVE asked the friend to stop doing it but she forgets..

no matter if you are sick or not. I also think we should get the illegals out, why let them become citizens if most of them don’t even want to speak English. I say send our troops home to protect our borders here. make the rich pay more in taxes. If celebritys make 50,000,000 a year they should be taxed more. Lets have more programs to help people get off welfare instead of if they have a job at mc donalds and get a second job at burger king cut their food stamps they will still be broke and exhauseted. There should be more job training programs. Lets have stricter imigration laws deport the illegals that commit crimes back to their country. So who should I vote for?
I didn’t say universal health care or free health care just health care that is affordable
I don’t have a problem with immigrants just illegals who come here and use our resources like emergency rooms and don’t pay anything therefore costing legal americans more money. I know we are a nation of immigrants, but we were born here and we taxes to be citizens we don’t go to foreign countries and expect a free ride.

Should I go into the Air Force as a health administrative officer? Does anyone have insight into this field?

I have been working in the civilian world for almost 15 years. At the age of 30, I feel as if I should try something different. Being an information technologist, work seems mundane and typical. In response to this environment, I decided to pursue a Master’s in Management. Once completed the doors begin opening. My undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice really didn’t provide the best paying jobs. So after taking some career assessment exams, I found that health care would be ideal. Matching that with administration/management makes a lot of sense. A recruiter told me it is a hot field in the civilian world. It would be a great opportunity within the military to get the training and experience. Who knows, maybe I could retire from the Air Force. Does this position in the air force place workers in hostile situations? What are the chances of getting hurt? Could someone please shed light on this subject….
